Yamashiro-den(山城伝): The traditional Yamashiro-style from late Heian-era until

late Kamakura-era. The main schools were theSanjo-school(三条); famous katana-

smith Munechika(宗近), Gojou-school(五条); Kuninaga(国永), Awataguchi-school

(粟田口); Toshiro-Yoshimitsu(藤四郎吉光) and Rai-school(来); Kunitoshi(国俊).

Characteristics: Blades have a well-forged ko-itame hada with gogeous, Hamon is

sugu-ha based with fine Nie in both Ji and Ha.
